During the hurricane I stayed at my brother’s house while the rest of the family stayed in my house. It took me a week before I could reach my house. The roads were blocked and the conditions were dire as there was a scarcity of food, water, and gas immediately following the storm. Can you provide us with a list of your immediate needs? Response: A new roof for my house as well as my mother’s house is absolutely necessary because her house is no longer liveable because of the excessive amounts of leaking. The foundation of my house needs structural support. As for my house, my daughters’ bedrooms have leaks that promote the growth of mold which really concerns me because they’re breathing it on a daily basis. We also need a sewage system that will allow my toilets to function properly. We don’t have much running water, and have had to use water from the river nearby for cooking, bathing, and laundry. A larger generator would help us power larger appliances for a longer period of time. A larger cistern would also be of great help. My daughters are sleeping on thin mattresses, so a bed for each one could allow my girls to have a good night’s sleep. In terms of medication, my grandfather needs an oxygen tank because he suffers from a pulmonary condition. He needs a blood pressure machine and an adjustable bed, if possible. My mother needs insulin (Humoolin) for Type 2 Diabetes and Flavix to prevent blood clots. She also needs a cardiologist to examine her as soon as possible. She suffered a heart attack about a year ago
