Bilbo’s Back Surgery

Donation protected
Bilbo is our French Bulldog who we adopted a little over three years ago. On Friday,  August  17th we noticed he was acting lethargic and having back spasms. We took him to a local veterinarian and we were sent home after they told us he was fine. The next day he was still lethargic. In the morning he was limping, and by the middle of the day, he couldn't use either of his back legs. That night we took him to the Southern California Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Irvine. The team there diagnosed him with Thoracolumbar Intervertebral Disc Disease and informed us he would need emergency surgery. We were told if we would not agree to the surgery that he would be paralyzed. They called Roger Pettigrew, DVM and he performed the surgery Sunday, August 19th at 9 a.m.

We were told we had to pay half of the cost of surgery up front in order for them to call Dr. Pettigrew. We were charged $4,500 to our credit card in order for them to agree to perform the surgery on Bilbo. The hospital estimates that his final bill will be around $9,400.00. There were no options for paying off this expense with a payment plan, so we're currently in the process of charging on lines of credit until we can afford to pay it off. This was an unexpected emergency, and as we are in the process of paying off a personal medical bill, any amount you can donate will help. If you aren't in a place where you can give money, we understand. But if you could share with your family and friends it would mean the world to us.

We are looking forward to having our little guy home with us soon so we can nurse him back to health through the post-op recovery process.
