Elaine Bennett’s rehabilitate fund

Donation protected
As some of you already know, one of my best and oldest friends Elaine Bennett (Shore) suffered an acute stroke on Sunday 1st April 2018. This was caused by a blood clot, affecting the left hand side of her brain and the right hand side of her body, leaving her unable to speak, swallow or use her arm and leg. Elaine’s physical well-being has improved but her cognitive related speech and language is severely affected. She is now able to swallow but not speak but her mobility is still severely impaired.
Although most major improvements are made in the first 6 months following a stroke, further developments are slower to achieve. For those of you who know Elaine well I’m sure you’ll agree that she is known for her bubbly, caring, gregarious personality and so it seems more cruel that the stroke has silenced the very aspects of her personality that define her. We know she’s still in there when we hear her laugh and see her furrowed eyebrows!
After running my first marathon last year I said “never again”! But now I have a reason to run another and so to help raise vital funds for Elaine I will be running the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday 26th May 2019.
Additional therapies are being looked into at the moment and any monies raised through this page will go directly to help fund Elaine’s ongoing rehabilitation.
