Suporting Keith’s Cure

Let’s start back in 1974....a young girl and young boy met in high school and dated. They were crazy about each other but as high school kids do, they eventually went their separate ways and had their own lives. They both married other people and had children of their own. Well, as it sometimes happens, their marriages didn’t work out and they found themselves starting over. Through Facebook, this “boy and girl” that dated back in 1974 reconnected in 2012 and have been inseparable ever since. Their names are Keith and Melissa and they are MY mom and step dad. Growing up, I never imagined having a step dad. I never imagined how much I could love a man that wasn’t “biologically” related to me. I never knew how much my kids could do the same. He made a choice to love us kids and he didn’t have to. He IS the LOVE of my moms life. A few years ago Keith was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer. For those who don’t know, this is a very rare cancer in the sinus area. It has been a battle since. The cancer has now progressed to his liver. We are not giving up and plan to battle this. He has fought this battle and been braver than I could have ever been. He and my mom have remained faithful every step of the way. Yesterday they received a call that Keith was being terminated from his job, which means he will be losing his health insurance. My mom is working very hard to have him added to her health insurance but this takes time. They had met their “out of pocket max” for the year on his old insurance and now they will have to start over and risk treatments not being approved and delays that we DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR. With cancer, there is no time for a delay of treatment. EVERYTHING to do with cancer is EXPENSIVE. It just stinks!!! This is where I am asking for YOUR help. I choose to live in Aubrey because this is our HOME. I was born and raised in this amazing town. I have always LOVED the way everyone takes care of everyone! My mom has no idea that I am doing this and honestly, she probably would not approve. But, I am doing it anyway and asking for my friends and family to consider rallying around them during this time of need. I WANT TO SHOW THEM AUBREY LOVE. They are not the type of people to ask for anything, instead they are ALWAYS the ones to take care of everyone else. If you cannot donate, I completely understand.
