On Thursday, July 16th my mother and my aunt were involved in a car accident which tragically took my aunt's life and left my mother in critical condition. We learned that my mom suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury of the c6 vertebrae. Since it is an incomplete injury there is hope that my mom can recover some function. This will involve intensive inpatient rehabilitation to give her hope. she has insurance but they will only cover so many days in the rehab hospital and so much PT and we want to ensure that she has the best possible chance to make a recovery. Insurance also does not cover the cost of assistive devices to help her in everyday tasks and to promote autonomy.  With your help, we can bring my mom home with increased functioning, greater autonomy, and most importantly, an improved quality of life.
