Josh & Courtney Kosiorek will deliver their first child, Eli, on Friday, February 19, 2016. However, they recently discovered he has significant, life-threatening heart defects.

The following is their most recent Facebook update:
We have a scheduled C-section this upcoming Friday morning. Dr. Carol is communicating with and hand picking team members for different stages of his arrival. After he is delivered, he will be rushed to the next surgery room where doctors and surgeons will help stabilize him with a machine (the machine has risks). Upon being stabilized, he will have tests done to determine which surgical plan they will put into action. Then, they will perform surgery as soon as it is a possibility.
There are many steps to this process. The biggest concern is if Eli can even withstand life outside the womb. He MUST be stable before they can act in anyway. Please pray for this!
He does not just have one defect with his heart, but several.
He may not even be a candidate for a transplant. Heart transplants are very rare for an infant. If he survives the first set of procedures and surgeries, then maybe in the future (this would take months).
But we will take it hour by hour, then day by day.
We know the chances are small, but we rely on the fact that we have a very big God.
Thank you for praying for him and us. Many of you have wept and felt our pain. We thank God for all of you. Please continue!
Please pray for:
- Eli to even be stable enough to survive surgery.
- If he needs a transplant: For a donor and all the timing to align with Columbia Hospital in Manhattan.
- Us as a couple. This is a very hard time for us. Pray we cling to each other and God.
- Our family all over the world and communications with them.
Finally, please consider giving financially to help Josh and Courtney. There will be many unplanned expenses no matter the outcome.
