If anyone else would like to donate, we'll be closing this up at the end of this week. Chris reports that she has a rental for now, and is trying to sort everything out.
Tragically, she had to say goodbye to Bea, one of her 3 English Cockers that they thought came thru the blast unscathed, but sadly it turns out she had internal injuries that she couldn't survive. Losing everything you own is hard enough, but losing a beloved pet is just too much - RIP, Bea, and we are so very sorry, Chris.
Thank you to all who have donated; what a great group of caring people you are!
Blown away by the support of so many caring people! Almost at our goal...will you help us reach or even surpass it?? Feel free to share with anyone you think might like to help Chris get back on her feet; every penny is greatly appreciated at this tough time of year!
KRISTIN BAUER | CHRONICLE
After the weather broke on Sunday, Dec. 22 The Mickolick family returned with friends and family to dig though the remains of their Columbia Ave. home to recover lost posessions. Dan Mickolick is wearing a Santa hat he found in what remains of his closet and searching for other items. Dan, along side of friends, family and neighbors were able to find an old gameboy and games. English Cocker people are the best! Thank you for coming together when one of our own is in desperate need...so far we've exceeded our goal of $5,000 for Chris; so we've raised the goal amount, as there is no limit to the help she can use. "There but for the grace of God go I..."
Many of you know Chris Mickolick, breeder of Headwinds English Cocker Spaniels and fabulous artist. Last night she lost her home when the house next to hers exploded. She, her son, and her 3 English Cockers managed to get out of the house, but the town already declared it unsafe and leveled it. They have nothing but the shirts on their backs, and luckily their lives. We all know insurance doesn't ever cover everything, and we're reaching out to anyone who would like to help out. No amount is too small. To add insult to injury, it's 4 days before Christmas and today is Chris' birthday! Thank you all for your generosity...
I haven't yet had the pleasure to meet you in person, but feel connected because of our dogs and your art. Very happy you and your family are ok...and do not know why bad things happen to good people, but everyone's caring hopefully helps to offset some of that.
