We are here to share our story in hopes and prayer that we are able to raise the funds for Evan to have a procedure called Corneal Cross Linking to help stop or slow the progression of what is called Keratoconus in Evans eyes. What started out as a routine eye exam approximately 3 months ago has turned into such a bigger problem than just needing glasses or contacts. Evan has been diagnosed with an eye disease known as Keratoconus and not only has he been diagnosed with this it's in not one but both of his eyes. Keratoconus is when the normally round cornea becomes thin and begins to buldge. Eventually if not treated it will lead him to have to have corneal transplants. We have seen 2 specialist who have confirmed this diagnosis. There is a treatment available to us called corneal crosslinking. This is a procedure that strengthens the corneal tissue to halt the bulging of the eyes surface in keratoconus. Unfortunately this procedure is not paid for by our insurance. The procedure is 3000 per eye totally $6000 . Evan is 16 and this is progressing very fast as when he had a eye exam last year there were no signs of the disease. As hard as this is for our family we are reaching out for assistance to help fund this procedure as well a little extra to help cover pre op and post op care. Thank you so very much for your time.
