Matt Thein

Matt was in a MVA at about 4pm yesterday when his pickup collided with a larger dump type truck. Matt was airlifted from the scene to North Memorial. We are all here with him. He suffered a brain injury, deep lacerations to the left side of his face and facial fractures. He has a broken thoracic vertebrae (w/o spinal damage). Several broken ribs on the left and one on the right. And a pneumothorax. He is sedated and does not respond to commands. CT scans from yesterday and this morning are the same. He responds to pain by moving all four limbs. The report from the responders at the scene said he was agitated and moving all limbs at that time as well. This is Consistent behavior with the area of the brain injured. This morning they placed a chest tube bc the pneumothorax became worse on XRay. The plan is to taper back the sedative and watch for signs of normal functioning. Please pray for Matt. I was told the recovery from the chest trauma is going to be extended and painful.
