For over a year now I've gathered reflections through inteviews from those who were with Rich Mullins the last weeks of his life and asked how he individually shaped them.

I approached the Kruse family in early 2017 asking if I could possibly create a documentary about Rich Mullins stay with them. To my surprise they quickly agreed, questioning why nobody from the previous Rich documentaries and books had never asked them. Digging deeper into their story I saw how God was intertwining into this family with Rich's stay. Caleb Kruse wrote a book titled, "Meeting Rich" which was released in 2016, and many people originally became aware of this story from the last concert video on YouTube.

The video of Rich Mullins last concert - September 6, 1997. Uploaded by Peter Kruse in 2011.

This documentary will cover a part of Rich's life that's often skipped over. It will tell both the perspectives of the Kruse family as well as those in the studio recording Mitch McVicker's first solo album - each their own experiances. Also shown will be how "The Jesus Record" came together over the course of that year. Through this process the Kruse family and others have shared never-before-seen footage from the summer of 97 through September to use for this project.  All that said, I need funds to finish this.

With Caleb Kruse in Elgin, IL (May 2018)
With singer/songwriter, Andrew Peterson - who watched both the last concert video and read Caleb Kruse's book. (October 2017)

Donations will go towards:
-Extra equipment for the other interviews
-Travel costs for the other interviews
-Covering costs of drone shots
-Digitizing old tapes
-Post production/music

When completed the documentary will be made available for FREE online at no charge. When and where this will be is yet to be determined. I intend on completing the rest of the interviews by the end of next summer if I get the funds raised in time. Rich's brother, David, has also given me consent for pursuing this project and the people involved to which I'm grateful.

All donors will get a thank you from me. Those who contribute $15 or more will receive their names in the credits.

This is a passion project of mine - something that's been on my heart and kept me going for over the past year. My overall goal is to help get more of Rich's music and heart out there, and how through those last weeks communicated it to the Kruse family and the others around him.

Thank you for your consideration and support of

I want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has contributed to this project so far and give you an update as to where I'm at with it. As the donations have reached their peak I've decided to make some minor adjustments. I'm changing the goal amount of $4,600 to $3,300. This will allow me to still break even but I won't have multiple camera angles for every interview.

I've already invested in extra hard drives to back up the footage and pictures which will be used. If everything works out all the interviews should be done by the end this year and then the documentary will be complete before the end of 2020.

Over a year and a half ago I set out to tell this story and I intend to do so no matter what it takes. "The Work You Began" title came to my mind after hearing the song of the same name of Rich's from the 1970's. The song reminded me of Philippians 1:6.

I've seen the work Christ did through Rich's life to influence both the Kruse family and the many others who knew him. I intend this video to reflect all of that, and for maybe some who don't know this story can catch a small glimpse of Rich's passion for others. I saw Mitch McVicker two weekends ago and the first thing he asked me was, "Andrew, how's the documentary going?" I'm so encouraged by his support and all of you who have helped me along in this journey. Thank you all again!

Hey everyone! 1 month has passed since the launch of the campaign. I sincerely appreciate everyone who has donated and shared this project either on social media or by word of mouth. Please continue to share and encourage others to prayerfully consider donating. There are ways I can make the project for less but if my goal is reached I can do it easier and with some better production equipment. I'm not sure if I'll do something like this ever again, but if there's one story I wish to tell in my life it's this one. Thank you all again!

The picture is of my friend Joe Cook and I with Peter Kruse in front of the spot where Rich performed his last concert in their home. A good memory!

Many blessings,
