Devastation in Paradise Roslyn Appeal

The devastation from raging fires of the town of Paradise California has touched hearts all over the world.

For the Roslyn Class of 1972, the tragedy is much closer to home.

Our friend and class-mate, Almarie Hivale (Ryan) and her family, who thankfully all escaped the fire, have lost their homes and jobs. The fire spread so rapidly that Almarie had to flee the hospital in her nursing uniform. Luckily, she had her mobile phone in her pocket and was able to maintain contact with her family.

All her, and her extended family’s, homes, jobs and possessions are gone.

Almarie and Ron in Glendalough earlier this year

Almarie has lived in California since 1983, is married to Ron and they have three children, Alan, Ciara and Oliver, and four beautiful grandchildren Lili, Julia, Gabi and Asher.

Ciara, Eric, Lili, Julia and Gaby on their first trip to Ireland this year.

To add to their worries, Almarie’s son, Alan’s second baby was due at the end of November. Thankfully, we can now report that Almarie has a new healthy grandson,  Ames, and that mother and baby doing well.

They have managed to rent a house, which will accommodate them all, in a nearby town called Oroville.  However, the house is completely empty and they urgently need to buy everything to make it both habitable and more importantly, a home, until they know what the future will bring.

All Roslyn Parkers will know the Ryan Family. Probably one of them was in your class! Tony, Anne, Thecla, Almarie, Paula, Edwina, David and Jeanne, and many of us will remember their Dad, who was the Doctor to the nuns. As a family, they had an impact on many of our lives and we remain great friends with Almarie and her family. Of course during this difficult time, we are in contact  with Anne, Thecla and Edwina, who  continue to live in Ireland.

Any money raised here, will go directly to Almarie and her family.

Go Fund Me charges a small administration fee to cover their costs and credit card charges. When you donate you may be asked if you wish to cover that fee so that all of your donation goes to the family.

Any donation, whatever you can afford, will help, and you can donate anonymously if you wish, or indeed send a message to Almarie and her family, through this website.

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP ALMARIE REBUILD HER AND HER FAMILY’S LIVES.
