Hit By Car While In Cross Walk

Hello Family, Friends, & Readers. On June 29, 2018 my boyfriend Ricardo was hit by a car traveling at 30 miles per hour while crossing the street in a cross walk. Thankfully the driver had stopped, and by standers were there as witnesses. Police & paramedics were called. From the impact of the car , Ricardo was thrown into the air did two flips and landed with his head hitting the windshield & his head spiraled the windshield, he then fell to the ground and landed on his head and his knee. Ricardo was taken by ambulance to Stanford emergency department. He was kept over night for observations. Thankfully his injuries are not life threatening. Ricardo has a few broken bones including his thumb on his left hand it was broken at the base of his fifth metacarpal. Ricardo currently has to wear a cast for six weeks until it is healed and he also has to goto the doctor weekly for X-Rays to ensure it is healing properly. Ricardo also has a proximal Fibula & Fibular head fractures. He will also have to visit the doctors for a few more MRI to ensure that it is healing properly. Ricardo also has a concussion, & whip lash. He is sore throughout his body, he has severely painful headaches, he also gets very nauseous for hours to where he doesn’t even want to get out of bed. When he does walk he moves very slow due to the pain in his leg from his broken bone, he also isn’t able to use crutches due to his cast on his hand for his broken thumb. During the accident Ricardo’s glasses were broken, and smashed into his face. We had to order new glasses for him. Ricardo has been placed off of work since the incident happened on June 29, 2018 and does not yet have an accurate return date. It all depends on when his concussion heals. Ricardo will be applying for temporary disability since he is placed off of work. We are working with an attorney to ensure everything is taken care of properly. In the mean time we are stuck paying for everything, as our car insurance doesn’t cover for personal injury, and his medical insurance has a 7,500 out of pocket deductible to be met before they cover anything. And the lawyer said we will not receive any money until the settlement which could take up to a year. Every time he has an X-Ray it’s 75.00 he has already had 4 times and will be having a few more to track his healing., and each time he has an MRI it’s 910.00 he has already had two of them and will be needing at least one more. Each time he has a doctor visit he pays 30.00 for his co-pay. The ambulance bill is 3,429.34 and his emergency room visit is 319.00 from Stanford. Not including the cost in medication which we have paid already over 200.00 for. And the cost to replace his eyeglasses 130.00. Ricardo has already used all of his sick pay, and vacation pay. And hasn’t been able to apply for disability, and when he does it won’t be much in comparison to what he makes while working. With just me working it is really tough for us to afford all of his medical bills on top of the bills we already have to pay. Our rent is 1,995.00 per month , Ricardo has his car payment, insurance, credit card bills, and all of his other bills. And we also have our pets that we take care of at home. If you could please pray for Ricardo and his recovery, and also for our financial situation we would greatly appreciate it.
