Emergency Surgery Costs

What happened:
Recently, during a five day stay at the hospital, I received emergency laparoscopic surgery to stop internal bleeding and remove excess blood from a hole in my uterus. Naturally, I was not planning on being taken to the emergency room that night, nor was I planning on receiving surgery.
Still, accidental or not, I am faced with a very large sum in hospital bills, and have missed nearly three weeks of work, and while wonderful surgeon, Dr. Martin Robbins, lowered the price of the surgery itself as best as he could, I still am unable to pay this amount by the time it is required (which is as soon as possible, I’ve already started getting calls asking for the full amount). I’m hoping that by some miracle, I may be able to reach this goal with the help of friends and family.
Where is this money going to?
My goal of $800 is the price being asked for by my surgeon’s office. It is only the price of the actual surgery itself.
The price of $800 does not cover any portion of my five day stay in the hospital, nor does it cover medications given to me, any food that I ate during my stay, my CT scan or ultrasound, or any lab work done.
I know that in reality, this amount will be MUCH higher. I set my goal to the $800 as I know how tight money can be, and I couldn’t bear it to ask for such a large sum of money.
So that’s it, I suppose. I wish that I was able to afford this, that I didn’t have to miss nearly three weeks of work, or injur myself in a way that required emergency surgery. I wish that the medical system wasn’t so expensive, but that’s simply not how it works right now.
I don’t take this lightly; I never envisioned myself going to the internet and having to ask my friends and loved ones for money, but this is what I have to do to be able to start off paying the massive bills that I just acquired, and I appreciate more than anything any help that can be provided.
