Alyssa Fights Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected
Almost 5 weeks ago my 14 year old daughter started complaining about back pain which was thought to be and treated as a pulled muscle. After about a week her symptoms started getting worse as she was beginning to experience numbness and tingling in her right leg. Close to the end of June she started experiencing the numbness and tingling in both legs and began having a little trouble walking with full pressure on her right foot. When we took her back to the doctor they started treating it as a pinched or damaged nerve. Another week had passed and she still wasn’t doing that good at all and lost the ability to do some of the normal activities of life such as putting her pants and shoes on and other activities of daily life. She went to the doctor and received x-rays which showed her bones to be normal with no fractures. Then on July 7th she lost her full ability to walk and was rushed to the ER. Due to the progression they decided to admit her and run testings to find out what all is going on. After many MRIs, CT Scans, Brain Scans, 2 Biopsies, and a Spinal Tap we are still waiting on main results. They have found several lesions on her sacrum, L4 and L5. They have also discovered a compression fracture on her L5. She has been assigned an Oncologist to be her primary physician while hospitalized because they are thinking this could be something called “histiocytosis” which is a form of cancer. She is still unable to walk and will be hospitalized for a week or more while they conduct all tests that are needed to be able to properly diagnose her condition. They have stated that she is unable to be released until she is able to walk again. Treatment that they are considering to be the only treatment know possible with the possible diagnosis is chemotherapy. If the testing does come back as cancer that needs chemo they will keep her hospitalized until she completes the first 2 treatments.Due to the situation at hand I have had to take personal time off from work and where I haven’t been with the company a year I do not qualify for paid leave on FMLA. They have approved me to take up to 29 days off to be here at the hospital with her until she is released and able to walk. My family will be financially challenged for the next month while I am here to help provide care for my child.I truly hate asking for help as it is against what I believe in but due to the medical emergency of my daughter and the possibility of this being a form of cancer I am asking for financial help to help with our bills since I am unable to work.I promise to always keep this page updated as we know more and keep you all posted as to what all the doctors are doing during our lengthy hospital stay.
