Greg “Chickie” Duncum is one of the best known and beloved people that I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was a multi-sport athlete at CORBIN High School. He was the State Championship QB for the Redhound’s team in 1982. He went on to a Hall of Fame career at Union College where he was our team captain. With all of he accolades in sports, he always remained such a great friend to anyone who ever met him. Greg married his best friend and a person who mirrored his incredible personality. He and his lovely wife, Jan had two boys that have grown up to be two of the finest young men that anyone could meet. They didn’t have much choice with these two as their parents and the incredible support of their friends and family. Most of us know the story about the tragedy that this family had endured when Jan was taken from all of us much too young. As heartbreaking as this was too the family and all that knew Jan, Greg and these fine young men went to work picking up the pieces and created a home that Jan would be very proud of. Greg and the boys have never asked for help or pity they just worked extremely hard through unimaginable adversity to get through and accomplish the goals they had set out as a family. Recently Greg received news that he has Myeloma and like always he and his boys accepted the challenge and set out to battle another one of life’s challenges that no one should have to deal with. Greg would never ask for anything but with the extreme cost of treatment which includes over a years worth of treatments (three week on and two weeks off) in Arkansas, I wanted to ask for financial help for one of my best friends. He has given so much to so many as a coach, teacher, mentor and friend that I feel we can help him out for once and eliminate some stress associated with the financial burden that comes with any cancer treatment. No amount is too small and everything is appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you in advance for your support. We will have a huge celebration when Greg beats this thing. He is a winner and he will beat this with everyone’s thoughts, prayers and support.
