Good days are followed by not so good ones and the not so good ones are followed by great ones. No two days are the same. The good days are full of smiles, humor and peace. The personal challenge is to put words to all of what my being is experiencing in this stage of my mother's journey with cancer. We've arrived at this juncture sticking to the facts, listening to her body and making decisions with a focus on quality of life. Giving ourselves permission to change our minds whenever it feels right.
I am thankful to be healthy and close to care for my mom. I've spent the past week mustering up the courage to put words to paper. Having to be honest with myself and know that I need help on this journey. Help to stay available mentally & physically to not only care for my mother but my children, my marriage, my home and most of all myself. All while finding time to balance a really great job, our business and daily responsibilities. I know many have walked before me and others will follow. Knowing this helps me wake up each day and put one foot in front of the other.
Messages with kindness & encouraging words, snail mail, visits, thoughts and prayers are all helpful & welcome. You're juggling your own struggles, challenges and triumphs, I appreciate your stopping here to check on us & being part of our village.
In the weeks and months to come the amount of care needed will drastically increase and push on muscles I'm am currently unaware of. In an answer to many that have asked for a place to donate, give and share we have found CaringBridge to facilitate that & keep you up to date. Donations will help us with daily and long term medical and non-medical care, alternative medicines that aid in quality of life, meals, just plain living and keeping our lives together. I am currently caring for my mom with with help of in home hospice services in her home. We will then move to our home and possibly to a hospice facility of we can make that happen.
