Help a Struggling Veteran

  My name  is Anthony Brooks. I am a transitioning former homeless veteran and an aspiring Music/Business College Graduate. I served 2 years in the United States Air force during 9/11. I have survived being homeless and made it through my many adversities in my life thus far.  Recently i also acquired an Autoimmune condition that has plagued my body. I am in the process of finding out what that is exactly. I am accumulating lots of medical bills in addition to that an frequent trips to the ER. I hope its not the big C. otherwise known as Cancer. I want to turn my pain into triumphs and be an advocate and mentor to as many people as possible.
   
    As a catalyst for hope, through knowledge, art and music I hope to transcend my ills with prosperity and survival and change. I hope my perserverance, determintion and due dilligence can encourage others. I currently live in the SkidRow area of Los Angeles amongst a destitute homeless population and disenfranchised but it's a thriving commuity of arts, music counseling and rehabilitation programs. I volunteer at a substance abuse center called Share Inc wih recovering substance abusers.
   
   I am highly motivated,  just recently I had a chance to speak at a mentoring event this past year's annual College Within Reach program here in Los Angeles with United Friends of the Children, It was a great event and experience; I was able to tell my story and shed some light on my challenges as at-risk youth. It was my sincere testament and candor glimpse into my life after foster care and the obstacles, instability and responsibilities that came along with it.  
       
I am currently a Business/Communications major at Los Angeles Technical College and would like to transfer to a number of universities to attain a degree in Business.  I  will start the fall semester but I dont have the funds to pay for tuition, housing, and living expenses. Education is my life long dream and with your help I can be within reach of achieving that goal.  I want become a integral member of society despite the setbacks I have faced its only made me stronger. I want to graduate and become an alumni of music and business. By doing so I hope to inspire and change lives as I am doing for myself by paying it forward.
