Mike Hoffer's Road to Recovery
On Tuesday, May 30th, Mike Hoffer, a beloved Father, Husband, Son, Brother, Family member, Co-worker, Friend and hockey teammate/brother, was involved in a car accident that has him at Kadlec hospital (Richland, Wa.), beginning his road to recovery. Since the accident, Mike has had a huge outpouring of support for both him and his family. As he continues his road to recovery, we’d like to help his family out with any expenses that come their way, whether it be medical bills, meals for the family, etc. If you can, please join us in donating to his GoFundMe account, there is no amount too small. Prayers and positive thoughts are also requested through this trying time.
As many of you know, Mike is a very kind hearted soul. His passion for being all the above described, is what makes Mike one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. The love for his family and friends, coupled with his hardworking attitude to provide for his family, makes Mike what he is, loved by anyone he meets along the way!
Keep fighting Hoff, you got this bud!
Thank you to everyone who donated! I've known Hoffer for 15+ years and has been a teammate for about just as long. If there's one thing that hockey has taught me is you are a team on and off the ice. Hoff has one of the best teams with ALL of you on board and can't Thank You enough!
Glad your coming home bud! Love ya man!
Mike has been doing very well the last few days. Talking a lot about how he feels about what is going on and what he needs help remembering or things he doesn't quite understand. He can write and read some and tell time and watch tv haha. He talks a lot about our kids and all the things he would like to do with them like golf, fish, boating, camping, vacations. It's been great having long conversations with him again. He can walk around with minimal assistance. So we have been going downstairs to the cafe every morning to get his coffee. He loves the lattes at Kadlec lol. Even going out on the terrace outside once a day for air. Last night was his first night alone without me or his mom or sister here and he did great. We will leave for rehab as soon as Wednesday pending insurance approval. Prayers for a smooth transition to the next facility and that our kids would be good for all the helping hands (grandparents, aunts, uncles and so on) that are taking care of them. Love you all,
"Hello world!! Been awake even more today. More words. Ate some vanilla ice cream and drank a whole bottle of water. Just got out of the shower and reached to hold Ellie. Feeling good today."
Over the last couple days, Mike has been making great progress in his recovery. One of the things he's been able to do is talk to his kids. They adore him. Being able to talk with him has meant the world to them, helping them understand that Daddy will be OK.
PT also has him up and out of bed, helping him walk around a little as he continues this road to recovery! This is such great news and we're all so excited for this progress!
Again, Thank You to everyone that has donated, it means so much to Mike, Sarah and their family! Keep sharing too!!
Keep it up bud, you got this!
