I’m mum to Jazi (Jasmine) , she had never been ill until a knee op when she was 18, caused by a silly school prank where a lad dipped his knee aiming for the back of Jazi’s knee, but she turned. He dislocated her knee & for years it was weak & kept dislocating. Operating on her just before she was 18, 4 years ago , now,she is just 22, she had a reaction to the pain killers. Caused vomiting uncontrollable for 3 weeks, this caused a hiatus hernia sliding & acid reflux, her gallbladder stopped working so it was removed. More complications as her liver is pouring acid & bile into her tummy & Jazi is in hospital more than home, she spent most of 2016 & 2017 in hospital on morphine medication PCA for pain. Inside they tried the lynx implant to stop the acid coming back out & making her sick, but her scar tissue took over and clamped the implant shut & stuck her liver to her tummy, she couldn’t breathe or eat or drink A&E called her an addict & it’s all in your head!!! Thank goodness one man believed me & he operated removed the implant & did an upper body dissection to undo all the scar tissue & save her. But she isn’t ever going to be fixed to ok & pain free, like you or me.
The photo shows her last 3 week stay in hospital 2 weeks ago, vomiting, pain can’t eat or drink water.
She had a PICC line in to feed her & was allowed home to try and push through if she can on Fortisip life sustaining drinks, should drink 3-4 a day, but only managing 2-3 in between the sick & pain., now not managing any. 14/6/18. So as of tonight decision is made a feeding tube will be put in next Thursday, earliest there is a bed available.
Lots of pain killers that go into the gum to try and get her through till the operation.
Consultant doesn’t want to do it but Jazi is in a terrible way right now so there is no other choice.
Jazi has a full time job, but has only got into work 4 days this year so far & hasn’t managed to work on her laptop due to sickness & pain an medication, so Work have been amazing,, supporting Jazi, boss visiting her in hospital, but it can’t go on., all she wants is to get back to work as it’s normality & that’s what she wants.
I work full time & don’t qualify for help as I work, it’s my little piece of sanity in a cruel world of twisted fate, my son had to quit his job to help me look after Jazi but so I could still work & try & keep our home.
Jazi isn’t ever going to be pain free again, that much is certain, my son offered her his gallbladder as a transplant but it can’t be done risk is to high, she is too complicated, to pin point one single factor that is causing all of this to happen to her,
The last lot of liquid pain medication was £495 as she can’t get all of the pills in as water and pills make her vomiting start,, tonight’s were £300, you do what you have to do, to try and help her, it’s a lonely place when your child is so poorly as many will know, we are doing our best to keep our heads above water but reality is we are sinking, medications are expensive as is the travel to and from London hospitals to see the specialists.
My ex husband doesn’t have time to sit with Jazi & cant help us financially either.
I’m proud & never asked for help, but my friend said I have to now as I just can’t do it all,. The professor looking after Jazi has said he can guarantee that the operation tomorrow will give her all of the nutrients her body needs to sustain her life with the feeding tube implanted , but he can’t say that her symptoms and pain & sickness episodes will go away, so her need for specialist treatments, medication, 24/7 hot baths to ease the pain, will be ongoing , she will have issues as he feels her actual stomach is not capable of moving food or drink through, hence the pain & sickness when she tried to eat or drink. The tube will by pass the tummy , but it’s a long expensive road ahead for recovery progression. I’m in debt for medication & treatments tried so far, to reduce her pain of £30k on credit cards , I thought if I paid she would be fixed & we could pay everything off when she was back in Work , it’s gone on & things are a lot worse. Iv put the mortgage on interest free only being paid on a £195k mortgage loan., doesn’t take much to see we can’t pay that off now, I’m also sadly too old now to extend the mortgage out, so I’m fund raising & selling all I can to pay everything off so that Jazi & Ryan will be safe in a home.
So for the 1st time ever I am actually asking for any help anyone could possibly give us to help her , I’m sorry to ask but my friend is right it’s time to ask for all the help I can possibly get, financially or if another specialist can help think of anything that might work.
Thank you for taking the time to read this & if you can help in any way I truly appreciate your help & support, never dreamed I would ever have to ask, but thank you & hoping you give your loved ones that little extra cuddle & spend that little extra time doing good things with them as you just don’t ever know what’s going to change , don’t take things for granted. We never saw this coming from that stupid lad at school, that triggered a chain of events so so bad.
