Amelia's Recovery

Donation protected

On November 2nd, 2015 AP (Amelia Penelope) came into our lives a month earlier than expected. She was immediately taken to the NICU and by the 6th of November we were home as a family.

Unfortunately, things took a horrible turn just two days after coming home. AP became very lethargic and unresponsive. We rushed her to Arnold Palmer Children's ER where they spent several hours attempting to stabilize her. Because she is so small and was so weak we were immediately readmitted to Winnie Palmer level 3 NICU.

The doctors determined that our little girl had developed viral meningitis. The course of treatment has been to wait and see and try to treat specific symptoms. We are now on our 16th day in the NICU and have no idea when we can bring our baby girl home.

Having a new baby is expensive of course, but having a new baby come a month early and end up with a very severe infection has taken us by surprise financially and the bills are starting to pile up.

Tyson has been incredibly strong during all of this and we are extremely lucky to have help with him. I have basically moved into the hospital to be with AP and I only see Tyson an hour or two a day unfortunately. I wish I could be with him but I know she needs me more right now. We have help with him right now but still need to call on a nanny occasionally. This is yet another expense we were not prepared for at all, yet it has become unavoidable too.

Any amount that you could donate would be truly appreciated and used to help cover the cost of AP's recovery, allow me to stay at her bedside, and help offset the cost of taking care of Tyson as well.
