Help Derek Fight Leukemia

Dear friends and family,
Derek and I would like to extend a warm thank you to all of you for always being super loving and supportive towards us through this difficult journey that we’ve been facing over the past five years since Derek was diagnosed with Leukemia. It’s difficult moments like this that reminds us of the nobility and kinship of people that give us hope when we feel hopeless. However, over and over again we’ve been blessed with a wonderful family and friends that have indulged us with words of wisdom and positivity, prayers, and love that refill our souls with strength, resilience, and hope. As some of you may know Derek was diagnosed with Leukemia about five years ago. While it has been an ongoing struggle, we couldn’t have done it without all of you. However, last year of April 2017, Derek’s cancer returned, and now he is looking at the pre-stages of Leukemia once again. On July 11, 2018, Derek will once again be admitted into the hospital for a whole month, and his second round of radiation and chemotherapy before his bone marrow transplant. And while doctors are fighting for his life to find a cure, hospital bills and fees, personal expenses for Derek tend to add up; his food, change of clothes, toiletries, and gas more than anything are always very costly since the hospital is about 2 hours away from both his parents home and mine. As I continue to help Derek raise money for his upcoming treatment, I will be handling his GoFundMe funds, and personally transfer his money through Zelle; a trusted bank system that the bank uses to safely transfer money between accounts. I will also update you on how this money will be spent through his GoFundMe Page. We are all reaching out to you in this desperate need for help to help us fight through this difficult moment. As an exchange to your generosity, I will be giving away some of my pottery as a way to thank you for your contribution. We couldn’t be more grateful of the people in our lives, and for all that you do!

Queridos amigos y familia, Derek y yo queremos darles las gracias a todos por ser siempre cariñosos y solidarios con nosotros a través de este difícil situacion al que nos hemos enfrentado en los últimos cinco años desde que diagnosticaron a Derek con leucemia. Son momentos difíciles como estos los que nos recuerdan la nobleza y el parentesco de las personas que nos dan esperanza cuando nos sentimos sin esperanza. Sin embargo, una y otra vez hemos sido bendecidos con una maravillosa familia y amigos que nos han complacido con palabras de sabiduría y positivismo, oraciones, y amor que llenan nuestras almas con fortaleza, resistencia y esperanza. Como algunos de ustedes saben, a Derek lo diagnosticaron con leucemia hace aproximadamente cinco años. Si bien ha sido una lucha constante, no podríamos haberlo hecho sin todos ustedes. Sin embargo, el año pasado, de abril de 2017, regresó el cáncer de Derek, y ahora está mirando los estadios previos a la leucemia una vez más. Será ingresado en el hospital el 11 de Julio, donde permanecerá un mes entero, y someterse a una segunda ronda de radiación y quimioterapia antes de su trasplante de médula ósea. Y mientras los doctores pelean por su vida para encontrar una cura, las cuentas y los honorarios del hospital, la comida y el gas son siempre muy costosos ya que el hospital está a unas 2 horas de distancia tanto de sus padres como de los míos. Todos estamos llegando a usted en esta desesperada necesidad de ayuda para ayudarnos a luchar a través de este momento difícil. Como un intercambio a su generosidad, voy a regalar algo de mi cerámica como una forma de agradecerle por su contribución. No podríamos estar más agradecidos con las personas en nuestras vidas, ¡y por todo lo que hacen!
