Jonathan's medical/final expenses

Donation protected
It is with deep and profound sadness that we had to say goodbye to our sweet brother Jonathan on Saturday, August 22nd. He was surrounded by his family as we gently sang to him as he peacefully left this world. What a gift he was to us and and how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to be with him and our family to sadly but joyfully send him off to whatever lies ahead.  Here is the brief story of his illness and the family needs:

As many of you know, our brother Jonathan was hospitalized on 8/6 with severe respiratory issues and admitted to CCH. He was quickly intubated (put on a ventilator) and heavily sedated. After about a week he was sent up to Brigham & Women's critical ICU unit via Med Flight (his first helicopter ride). We believe this episode is associated with his diagnoses 10 months ago of Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia (a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma) as well as a terrible disease called Amyloidosis. Neither of these are "curable" but the symptoms for some people can be reduced and managed. After aggressive chemotherapy, neither his symptoms or his counts improved. Because of these diseases, he has been suffering from severe neuropathy (can't feel his hands or feet). His doctor at Dana Farber, Dr. Castillo, the worlds foremost expert on WM said it was the worst case of neuropathy he has ever seen. Jonathan is one of his youngest patients at 50 years old. He has suffered from terrible wounds on his fingers because he is unable to feel when he is burnt or cut therefore a terrible infection occurred in his fingers. Jonathan has not been able to work for quite sometime and as of late, drive. Anyone who knows Jonathan, realizes it's tough to keep this energizer bunny still for any length of time. You can imagine his frustration. He also has moderate to severe COPD (emphysema) which may or may not be associated with the cancer. Probably smoking however he was still very young to exhibit such severe problems.

We are asking for donations that will help cover the burial costs as well as some medical expenses.  He was just sent the most recent pill that was thought and hoped to be a cure for Waldenstroms but he was never able to use it. We appreciate any assistence you can give to his wife Mae and family.

Thank you!
