ASD Class,Sensory Room&Play area

We are a DEIS Band 1 school in Knocknaheeny, Cork. St. Mary’s on the Hill NS was founded in 1980 to cater for children from the Knocknaheeny/Hollyhill area in the Northside of Cork City.In recent years, we have had an increase in pupils with special needs attending our school. In September 2018, we will be opening a new ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) class and sensory room to cater for these pupils needs. This will allow us to provide educational services to children diagnosed with ASD. Autism affects children in many different ways. Some children can be non-verbal, have obsessional or repetitive behaviours and many have difficulty socialising. Often these pupils can have sensory needs that impact their behaviour and learning. We need to fundraise to ensure that we will have the resources and specialised equipment to meet the needs of our pupils. We will strive to open up a whole new world for our wonderful children through play, activity and sanctuary in an appropriately equipped class, sensory room and play area. All monies raised will go towards the much needed resources for our new ASD class, sensory room and play area.Please donate as much as you can.
