An 8 Year Old Boys Dream Come True

My name is Steve boyle the very proud father of Kaleb Boyle. Kaleb has been in karate since 4 years old and most recently achieved the rank of black belt in December of 2017. He has been competing for the past 2 years at tournaments all over Ontario Canada and this spring won a provincial tournament that qualified him to participate in the national championships held in Ottawa this past weekend. May 18-20, 2018. Kaleb is 8 years old competing against up to and including 11 year olds and held his own and pulled off a bronze medal qualifying him to join team Canada at the world karate championships in Dublin Ireland. Since competing he has had mentors in two boys at the dojo named Jake and Nathan. He has watched them go to worlds and become world champions and he has continually said to me “Dad mark my word by the time I’m 10, I’m going to worlds” Here’s where I get sappy. My boy was not born perfect. He was born with vision loss in his left eye to almost 75% along with hearing loss up to 50% in his left ear. He was recently diagnosed ADHD and ODD with a 12 second attention span. He takes medication daily that costs almost 400 a month (not covered btw) and it would drop most adult men with its side affects, yet this boy lives like he has no challenges other than his own goals. Doctors told us and him at 4 years old he would never be good with hand/eye coordination sports either. Yet today we celebrate his abilities in karate with incredible hand/eye skills and on top of this he is an all star baseball player with one of the best hits in his division. Can you tell I’m a proud dad! Here’s how you can help. The trip will cost the following $2500 flights $1700 hotel stay for one week $500 food and drinks So we are needing to come up with $5000 to make his dream of competing at the world karate championships fall of 2018 in Dublin Ireland come true. I work hard and can come up with half of this myself likely without crippling the homefront but sure could use some help and I’m not too proud not to ask or admit I will need it.
