Help Students go to World Finals

The Odyssey of the Mind Team is requesting assistance in the form of a Monetary Donation to help the students from Dayspring Academy compete at the WORLD'S FINALS in Ames, Iowa! This is a once in a lifetime experience, where these students will get to compete with other Omers from China, Poland, Russia and other areas of the world. This will be a trip with memories made to last forever!
On February 27, 2016 they competed in the Gulf Coast Regional Odyssey of the Mind Competition, where they placed 1st in their problem and division. In fact, they also were blessed to be awarded the Ranatra Fusca Creativity Award, which is the highest honor an individual or team can receive. On Saturday, April 9, 2016, the team placed 2nd at the State competition in Orlando, FL and received an invitation to compete at the World Finals in Ames, Iowa. But, first things first.
The World Final's competition will be held May 24 thru 29, 2016. This will require the team to pay for registration fees and travel expenses, including room and board. While some families will be able to pay for a fair portion of these expenses out of their own funds, not all families have that luxury. Therefore, we are requesting assistance from friends, family members, major corporations, local area businesses and school supporters, to contribute any amount possible to help defray some of the overall cost, which is figured to be approx. $1,500 per person. This is the estimated cost associated with this once in a life time opportunity.
If your company, organization or family is willing and/or able to sponsor this team to the World Finals competition, your investment funds would be used to help offset the costs associated with paying for the travel arrangements, room and board and entry fees for all team members and their coaches.
The levels of sponsorship are:
Housing sponsor - $615.00/per student - The team is provided room/board by University of Iowa. The college welcomes the teams into the dormitories and provides food through the cafeteria at the fee per person listed above. The team stays on site for 5 days, performing their long term problem, tackling spontaneous and interacting with students from all walks of life.
Travel Sponsor - $300.00 – The cost of a flight to Des Moines, Iowa is $550.00/per student.
Pin Sponsor - $100.00 – Pin trading is an important part of the World Competition. It provides a way for students to interact even if they do not speak the same language. At the Competition, all participants “speak” pins!!
The sponsorship levels listed above are only suggestive and are there to provide insight into the costs associated with a trip of this magnitude. Any level of donation will be appreciated by the team members.
