Support For Vincent Reichhoff

Jeremy Reichhoff and Renee Vogel welcomed Vincent King Reichhoff to this world on 12/8/17. The birth of a child is an amazing time, they knew nothing of his condition before he made his debut. In his short life, he has spent the majority at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, Wi. This little guy has undergone 12 surgeries, multiple diagnostic procedures, scans and medications. His family is hoping he can catch a break in the very near future. The impact of having a newborn hospitalized is staggering; the pain, fear and stress is more than any family should endure. Vincent was born with a rare (1 in 4000) birth defect called Esophageal Atresia/Tracheoesophageal Fistula (EA/TEF type C). This condition is where the esophagus does not form completely. He had surgery at 3 days old to repair this; connecting his esophagus to his stomach. Although his surgery was successful, there are many other challenges creating a multi faceted complex overall health. He struggles with swallowing as well as reflux. His esophagus needs to be dilated via endoscopic surgery weekly, as the repair site continues to shrink and almost close. He feeds mostly through a G-Tube, with some oral feeds for practice. He suffers from a condition called Tracheomalacia; making breathing difficult due to his airway collapsing. This leads to choking, blue dying spells, ambulance rides, ER visits and many re-admissions to the hospital. It has most recently been diagnosed that his aorta (main blood supply artery to the body) is pressing on his trachea (wind pipe), causing it to be almost 100% closed. A lifesaving surgery called a Aortopexy will be performed on 4/23/18 to hopefully fix this issue. Jeremy and Renee have been there for him every step of the way. They need to be alert 24/7 and be prepared to offer lifesaving interventions if necessary. Jeremy has not been able to return to work since January of this year, while Renee works remotely as needed but at small capacity. The future of Mr. Vincent King’s health care in a whole is uncertain. He and his family have spent over 80% of his short life in a hospital room and have endured a lifetime of stress watching their little boy continue to fight; months of adversity has taken a toll on this family. They have shown amazing courage throughout, but they could really use the support of friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers in the form of a financial gift. Your donation will help Vincent's family keep their energy and focus on his health and recovery. Get updates on his health by searching for Vincent Reichhoff on caringbridge.org
