Help A Trans Youth Find Shelter

Hi, my name is Colton Seidman. I prefer to go by Colt. I recently became homeless and could really use the communities help. First off, I am transgender and gender non conforming. I prefer for people to use they/them/their pronouns for myself. I first became homeless this year when a case worker made a false report that I was suicidal when I wasn't that made me wind up in a really terrible place called St Mary's Hospital in Chicago, IL. They were super transphobic to me and withheld a lot of my necessary medications from myself. Luckily, I have a great emotional support system and my friends and current therapist which has been helpful. Unfortunately upon getting out of the hospital, I fell into a really bad depression and lost my home due to that depression. I was really traumatized from how I was treated in that facility. I have been trying very hard to get out of this depression but things have been rough. I recently thought I found a safe space to live but my ex roommate just informed me that she wanted to live alone and gave me a few days to move out. I am on disability for mental health reasons. I go to therapy weekly and it's been helpful but for myself to continue to heal, I really need a stable place to live. I unfortunately don't get paid until the 1st of the month but I desperately need some housing support so that I can live elsewhere. I plan to pay it forward when I am able to. Once I obtain stable housing, I plan to continue to go to weekly therapy sessions, attend an Outpatient program at the LGBT friendly hospital that I had positive experiences at, and also go back to school. If you can help at all with getting me back on my feet, I would really appreciate it. -Colt
