Bikes For Underprivileged Children

It's that time of year again! Last year I started a campaign for bikes for underprivileged children for Christmas in July. I was hoping to raise enough to be able to help 5-10 kids who had never had a bike, or any way to get one. The response was overwhelming. Literally!! I was alone at the time, and by the end, everyone who donated made it possible for 168 kids to get a bike!!! Amazing!! So, I said I would do this every year that I can. By the end of last summer, I had a handful of volunteers, but now I have a team of 40 to help keep a lookout for good deals on bikes and some of them help me by picking them up and getting them to me for the big day in July, as we now cover 5 counties. We are a non profit organization, 100% of donations go to bikes. Our goal for this year is to reach a minimum of 200 children. Since September 1st we have been watching and working towards July. We held a fundraiser at Christmas, and were able to give 6 kids bikes who otherwise would not have gotten anything from santa!. And we raised enough to get some bikes here already. But we have quite a way to go to reach our goal in July. This is where you come in!! It is a very important part, because if you can't donate, but can pass it along, it can reach someone who can donate. Also, if you live near Bethlehem PA, and would like to help, we accept gently used/second hand bikes, scooters, trikes, and helmets as donations as well. The age range that we do is 2-12. Although sometimes we have ride on toys for younger than two. The bikes we buy are approximately $40 new, and helmets are $10. But we keep a lookout for bikes on sale as well.
