Help Single Mom After Housefire

Donation protected
On January 25, 2018, there was a housefire in my upstairs bathroom in the rental townhome I share with my 7 year old son. I am a single parent, raising him now for almost two years on my own. Thankfully he was not at home to experience this trauma. An unattended candle started the fire, igniting my trash. The local fire departments arrived quickly and put it out, chopping down bathroom walls to make sure the fire had not gone behind the drywall. The fire chief said that my closing the door to the bedroom and smothering the fire from the balcony with a wet towel prevented a structure fire. Everything in the bathroom was burned or ruined beyond repair, including the medicine cabinet, melted light fixture, and burned floor. My mattress, boxsprings, bedding, clothing, shoes, as well as my son's clothing, books, toys, stuffed animals were smoke damaged. The majority of belongings were unsalvagable and thrown away. The entire upstairs floor has been cleaned from carpet to ceiling, then repainted. My bathroom is being completely renovated with new dry wall, flooring, and light fixtures. Thankfully we have renter's insurance, and have had support from our friends, family, and our church. However it will take time to be reimbursed and I have no idea what the insurance company will cover, considering they are also helping pay damages to my landlord's insurance. Needless to say it has been a long process for inspection, approval, and renovation. Meanwhile, my son and I have lived for almost 2 months in another home, which has doubled bills, and stress. Replacing basic necessities is a task I wish upon no one! It is tedious and expensive. My friends held a music benefit show in March and asked if I could set up a GOFUNDME for those that could not attend. Many friends that are not local have asked for a way to contribute remotely. Despite having doubts about setting up this fund, I was encouraged to accept help and many suggested a GOFUNDME as a viable option. These funds will help go towards covering extra laundry and utility bills, our insurance deductible, replacing clothes, shoes, furniture, and fixing the house back to its former state. My bed/bedding was thrown out and will need to be replaced. Any contribution will be appreciated, if you would like to help support my son and I during this difficult time. If you can't help monetarily, please know I appreciate you as a fellow human being just stopping to read and care about us. Feel free to share and thank you so much.
