Help us reach our goal to build a Festhalle at Dheinsville Park
The Germantown Historical Society began in the 1970's, in an effort to collect and display items and news from our area's past. Over the years, the group has made a concerted effort to involve the community in its projects and events. Some of those programs include Christmas programs, Bell of the month, and wine and cheese tastings to promote our group. More recently, we have started a community garden, installed archery targets, and monthly bier gardens have been offered to the community with different levels of success. Our most successful event is our Oktoberfest; we just hosted our 21st annual event.
We rely on fundraisers and donations to support our projects. All of these items raise awareness of our existence and help to introduce us to residents in our community. In continuing with these ideas, we are about to begin our largest project to date. In the next few years, our goal is to have a Festhalle built at Germantown's Dheinsville Park. This structure would be used to hold our annual Oktoberfest. It would also be available to the public for weddings, reunions, and many other functions.
The preliminary plans are in and we are working diligently with the Village of Germantown to work out the details to move this project forward.The building would be approximately 80' x 140'. This is larger than the tent that is currently used for our annual Oktoberfest.
We are looking forward to an enthusiastic response to this project and hope that you will see the potential this will have for the community. We are counting on our many friends, residents, and supporters of the communtity, to help us raise and reach our goal of $500,000.00, that will be needed to build the Festhalle.
