Kidney Transplant Fund For Mikey
My nephew (Mikey) has been battling end stage renal failure for some time now. He was officially diagnosed just over a year ago, and has since had multiple surgeries. He currently has dialysis three days a week. Getting to and from Dallas that often, all of the prescriptions, doctors bills, diet changes, missed work/school, etc. adds up. We are now in the process of finding a donor for him, but this takes time. Which means the trips keep taking place, work is missed, and bills keep coming. Any amount that can be donated will go directly to his medical expenses or anything related, and will be extremely appreciated.+ Read More
It’s so hard to come up with intriguing updates when you’re stuck in the same spot. A donor has still not been found, but testing individuals is still happening. We’ve had some go further than others, but one thing or another prevents them from getting the approval from the team of surgeons that is necessary. All the while, Mikey maintains his new normal. Dialysis three days a week, meds daily, limited at what he can do, but letting nothing hold him back. I thank all of those that have donated, prayed, or shared his story, but I ask that you keep doing it. This isn’t something that will stop or go away until he receives the needed transplant. I ask that you put your nephew/niece or your own child in his shoes, or put yourself in the shoes of his parents, and imagine how daunting the unknown could be. How helpless you would feel if you couldn’t do anything. Some life is better than no life, but I’d love to see my nephew get this transplant and live a normal life, and not miss anymore of his childhood. Keep the prayers coming, donate if you’re capable, and share, share, share!
New update on Mikey! He’s having another procedure on Tuesday to replace his ports used for dialysis. They are needing to replace these because the flow isn’t where it needs to be, so when they’re doing dialysis, it doesn’t allow the blood to filter correctly. It is an outpatient procedure, and he should be released same day. I’m losing count, but we’re close to the 10 count mark for number of procedures he’s had in the last year. Please continue to keep him in your prayers, share this info, and donate if you can. Also, please feel free to reach out to me for info on how to become a living donor if you’re interested!
