56 Miles for the Ethembeni School (Team Balega)
Tax deductible
This June, I will be representing Balega and running the Comrades Marathon (www.comrades.com), a grueling 56 mile uphill race from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Comrades is the world's largest and oldest ultramarathon. As part of this journey, I will be raising funds to support the Ethembeni School (www.ethembenischool.co.za/) through Balega’s Lesedi Foundation.
Lesedi means “light” or “enlightenment.” In 2004, Balega launched the Lesedi Foundation (https://balega-socks.implus.com/giving-back) to give back to our community both at home and abroad. South Africa has always been a part of the Balega story and through the brand’s support of the Ethembeni School, we hope to continue to honor a culture that is so much a part of the brand’s identity. Ethembeni is a “place of hope” and the school caters to physically disabled and visually impaired children from all over Kwa-Zulu Natal, Kingdom of the Zulu, giving students a chance for growth that they aren’t offered elsewhere.
THE GOAL: Annual tuition is $1200. My goal is to send TWO students to Ethembeni next year. The school is located directly along the race course, and I look forward to giving high-fives to students during the race and presenting scholarship funds in person afterward.
Thank you for your support!
