Mary Gilmore-Kemp of the Goldvine Grill
As many already know, Mary is in the hospital being treated for Leukemia. They are being aggressive with her treatment and are giving transfusions and chemotherapy. They are keeping her in the hospital for at least a month. She is hoping to be home for Thanksgiving.
Greg is keeping the Goldvine open for dinner, but lunches are put on hold. He is exhausted, but in hopeful spirits.
Their insurance is not the best and is not willing to cover all that is needed for Mary's recovery.
We as friends and family would like to help take some of the financial burden off of this wonderful, loving, hard-working couple.
They have selflessly given to the community and now it is our turn to show our appreciation for their generosity.
I plead to all, whether you love them dearly or have simply enjoyed a delicious meal at Goldvine and experienced Mary's hospitality, please give from your heart and give what you can.
Anything and all is appreciated.
Also, please frequent the Goldvine and pass the word to stop in for a meal and glass of wine- it all helps.
Please forward this link to anyone who knows Mary and Greg
and would like to help. If we all share the link with our email lists, client lists, facebook, and those people did the same...Imagine!!!
Thank you wonderful people!!!
Mary has one more round of chemo next week. This week has entailed her usual blood transfusions, blood work and basically getting her strong enough to endure chemo. After the last round of chemo is complete, her doctors will know whether a bone marrow transplant is needed.
Let's remember to keep the prayers and positive thoughts coming. Mary is not out of the woods yet.
Mary feels the love and positivity that we are all expressing. This helps her to manage her sometimes overwhelming disease process.
I was thinking about closing this web page since we have surpassed our goal, but I think that this is a good forum to communicate to Mary, allow Mary to post to her well-wishers, or learn about Mary's condition. Please feel free to post without feeling the obligation to contribute. Also, if someone would like to contribute, it is available.
Once again, thank you kind people for your thoughtfulness!!!
I am so proud of everyone who has participated in this campaign for Mary and Greg. The contributions and the well wishing has helped Mary immensely.
It was my pleasure and honor to start the campaign, but it was everyone's caring heart that made reaching the goal possible. We all love Mary and wanted to be able to show it in a tangible way. Mary is special to each of us and she has proof that we all care and that she is not alone in her fight against Leukemia.
Please keep fighting, Mary and we will keep praying and sending healing thoughts to you.
We will be bringing the campaign to a close in the near future. If you know anyone that has not yet contributed, but would like to, please advise them.
Once again, thank you kind people!!!
Mary was out of the hospital for nearly one week!! She got plenty of rest (especially due to being snowed in), visited with husband, a few friends, and her dog Rico who missed her sooo much!
She was hoping to go out- at least to the Gold Vine-
but was unable.
Her heater broke on Monday and she had to go to a hotel near Sacramento to be ready for a 3:30 check-in back in the hospital today.
Round two of chemotherapy.
Let's keep up the positive thoughts and prayers!
Let's all visualize a strong and healthy Mary.
Happy New Year to Friends and Family, Well, it is January 2nd, and I am back in the hospital for a short stay. I'm learning that this disease requires a long process of treatment and recovery, so I try to keep my frustrations in check. I am feeling better and better, and have really enjoyed my time at home. Even though I can't be my normal social butterfly, yoga practicing, zumba loving social self, I really appreciate just being home! Seeing a few friends has brought me to tears, I have missed all of you so much! My family has been awesome, and I've enjoyed visits from each of my six siblings who live in California, Nebraska and Florida! Wow! That's been pretty special. I want to thank each and every one of you who have expressed your support. That touched my heart deeply. It will be unbelievably helpful. And God Bless his Angel, Sondra Champion, who started this campaign. Sondra...you have no idea what you have done for us. I know you have always been a thoughtful and caring person and this really takes the cake! Again, Happy New Year to all, and in 1914, I hope we can all raise a glass someday soon and be happy and grateful for our friends and our wonderful home. Mary Gilmore-Kemp
My prayers and love go out to Mary and Greg both. These are two such special people and they are so precious to our community. I'll be having dinner at Goldvine to continue whatever support I can offer.
Our prayers are with Mary and Greg for Mary's recovery, and Greg's continued strength.
