Why is personal Leadership so important in Life?  What do we need to do to strengthen our Leadership in our schools and communities?

What we are aspiring to do is bring in the concept of Transformation Leadership, through Intrinsic Learning of students and staff; in a region of 51 schools, in Western Michigan.  We are doing this through a Leadership organization, called West Michigan Leadership Council.  We are training and empowering student leaders in Personal and Transformation Leadership that will be  uplifting and a true asset to schools and communites.  A Leadership Council, consisting of an Executive Board learning and applying Leadership skills and talents can only enhance, improve and strengthen schools and its communities. It can also help improve our political system.

My name is Ben Wilkes.  I am the founder and CEO of the West Michigan AIME Association.  I was a Teacher, Coordinator, and Director for the Grand Rapids Public Schools, in Grand Rapids Michigan for over 30 years.

I was able to work with "at risk" students in my teaching career. I was able to coordinate a program that allow me to create a process to work with offenders/ex-offenders, along with inmates from the Kent County Jail system. The curriculum was referred to as 'Life Inventory" and it dealt with helping youth and young adults find Self Awareness and addressed their Self Image and Self Esteem, towards a positive and healthy state. It was the result of these experiences that helped me write a new curriculum, called the "Intrinsic Leadership Development Curriculum" and launch the West Michigan AIME Association.

From 2003 to 2008, I directed all of the student Leadership intiatives for the Grand Rapids Public Schools, both middle school and high school.  I had  an Executuve Board that reached out to (32) schools, in the West Michigan community, for the purpose of networking.  It was during this period that I saw real Leadership coming out of these students.

If you can envision the magnitude of a Leadership organization, called "West Michigan Leadership Council," and what this council could actually accomplish throughout the schools and communities of West Michigan, then you can understand why we are on the "Go Fund Me"  website.

We have our fist kick off Conference on May 6, 2016 and a Leadership camp this July for our Executive Board Leaders.  Both the Conference and the Leadership camp are in  need of funds to help support this Leadership model. We believe this is a community affair.

Monies for the Conference would be for a conference room, food, speakers, materials and printing costs.

Monies for the Leadership Camp consists of lodging, food, trainng fees, materials and printing costs.

We are honored and excited to bring this kind of organization to the West Michigan community.

We have also found a way  to help sustain this initiaitve. Of course, getting off the launch pad is the most crucial. For this is the reason we are reaching out to community through the "Go Fund Me" program.  You, the donor, can be a part of this important initiative.

Thank You!  And God Bless You!
