SLEEPLESS GOAT IS CLOSING: PERSONAL DEBT SUPPORT FUND

**Although we have reached 7000.00  goal on-paper, Gofundme retains 5% of all donations. Also, I am receiving  requests to continue accepting donations. Therefore, I am going to keep the donation doors open for a little bit longer.

We are not trying to be greedy:  Any donations that go beyond what is needed to pay the debt/close the Cafe will be donated to another local initative. We are open to suggestions.  ***

My name is Jennifer-Leigh O'Neill. I am a former member of The Sleepless Goat Cafe and Worker's Co-Operative in Kingston Ontatio.

The Sleepless Goat is a non-heirarchical, concensus-based workers co-operative that has been a vibrant force  within the Kingston community for close to 20 years.

As a result of multiple appliance break-downs, a terrible  economy, and abusiness model not geared to top-profit, along with 7000.00/mo in rent; The Sleepless Goat is being forced to close its doors.

This event is very sad for all of us in the Kingston community; but especially challenging and economically dangerous for current workers/members.

The Goat will be filing for corporate bankrupcy.

However, beyond this, the individual workers who have seen The Goat through its last days will be burdened with a remaining 7000.00 in debt.

Considering we, as a community, have benefitted from The Sleepless Goat's ongoing community service in the form of free soup, free food, free performance space and a space where anyone is welcome. It, in my opinion, has benefitted our community beyond words.

The ending of the business is by no means the 'fault' of the remaining workers.

I implore our community to donate to a community fund for the purposes of alleviating remaining personal debt incurred by individual Goats proceeding filing for barnkruptcy:

7000.00 is the estimated totalof personal debt that current owners will incur.

Between our community , I believe we can quickly acquire this goal in order to allow our current Goat owners to move on to better, brighter futures and not remain in the grasps of what we have all benefitted from so much, being : The Goat.

This could have happened to any generation of Goats.  Please open your pocketbook to a cause that's had enduring heart for all Kingstonians.

We will be forever endebted to any generosity put forward.

<3 always. Jennifer-Leigh O'Neill
