Share the Voices of HIV/AIDS&Trafficking Survivors

Shanti Foundation is a  community based, grassroots organization in Kathmandu, Nepal. It established in 2016 by HIV infected/impacted women and a health care researcher promoting the health, safety, and protection of vulnerable and high-risk women, youth, and children.

The aim of the Shanti Foundation is to work for the successful reintegration of sex trafficking survivors and HIV/AIDS infected/affected women, youth of all genders, and children in Nepal.  Through counselling, prevention and protection, treatment, and the development of sustainable livelihoods and economic empowerment, the Shanti Foundation promotes  awareness and education to those engaged, or at risk of becoming engaged in sex trafficking. This is being completed through orientation sessions, health camps, and outreach services as well as via presentations to communities in remote areas, and in secondary and post-secondary institutions.  Through these activities, education on HIV/AIDS, sexual health, reproductive health, cervical cancer, and domestic and sexual violence is accomplished.

"Who Am I?" is a publication to share the voices and stories of Nepali sex trafficking survivors. The aim of this book is to inspire women in similar circumstances, who have been deprived of rights and resources.  This book demonstrates the struggles, barriers,  discrimination, and stigma faced by these women. We hope by sharing this publication, there will be a greater understanding of what it means to survive sex trafficking and/or be impacted by HIV/AIDS.  Through their own stories, women demonstrate the wide impact of HIV/AIDS and sex trafficking which ultimately impacts not just the women but their families, communities ,and the country as a whole.  "Who Am I?" will include stories of Shanti Foundation members and women who have received services.

The Shanti Foundation is a  community based, grassroots organization that does not have the resources to publish these stories.  We are seeking donations in order to publish "Who Am I?"  to share these unheard voices as well as broaden  and challenge the understandings of sex trafficking and HIV/AIDS.

With your help, we hope to share the voices and stories of these resilient, brave, and often marginalized women. Thank you so much for generosity.
