Jordan; Our fighter

I would like to begin by introducing myself.

My name is Virginia Reynolds and I am very proud to say that I am the aunt of a very strong young man.....

Jordan is a 23-year-old, positive, fun loving, ambitious, caring, confident young man.

You would think that his positive outlook would have changed when he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia the day after his 23rd birthday… but not Jordan. The moment he heard the news, which was a shock to us all, he knew he would kick cancers butt!

Months prior, Jordan had received the email he had been waiting on for as long as he could remember. He was finally accepted into police academy and would be leaving home in Montreal and heading to Nicolet, Quebec to begin training in June, 2016. His path getting there was a difficult one. He was raised by his mother and took on the father figure role to his younger siblings when his father died tragically 2 years ago, all the while putting himself through school.

Just as things were looking up for him and police tech was on the horizon, Jordan tore ligaments in both knees on separate occasions playing soccer. He never gave up and just knew that it would eventually happen for him.

When the email came in that Jordan was accepted to the police academy, he immediately started working overtime and saving money so he can finally get to where he always wanted to go. It was all he talked about.

After the Christmas holidays had passed, Jordan was not himself. He was tired all the time, which was unlike him. When Jordan stops going to the gym, something is wrong. Headaches started progressing and were constant. He had stomach pain and fever, we all assumed he was fighting a seasonal virus.

The day of his 23rd birthday, Jordan woke up with irregular bruising. He couldn’t understand it. Of course, we had to convince him to go to the doctor as he is a ‘man’ and doesn’t get sick. Finally, he agreed to go and to everyone’s shock, he never left the hospital.

Jordan was put into isolation and given the news that he would begin chemotherapy treatment ASAP. His life changed overnight. However, when visiting him at the hospital, he was the same upbeat, happy Jordan we’re all used to. His only disappointment was postponing the police academy. NOT that it wouldn’t happen…no. Jordan KNOWS he will survive this and that Nicolet WILL happen for him.

Like us all, Jordan has financial obligations such as car payments, student loans, etc to worry about, as well, Jordan’s mother has had to leave work to care for Jordan throughout this whole ordeal. The financial hardship she now faces to pay the bills and support the family is something no one should worry about when trying to get through something like this.

We are asking that you please help us to ease their financial burden so they can concentrate on his survival and recovery. The money raised will be given to Jordan to help him and his family cover all his bills including car payments, student loans, insurance payments, etc.

We are also asking that you pray for Jordan as he faces the hardest fight of his life. He is confident that he will get through this. Everyday he quotes his favorite UFC fighter, Conor Mcgregor; “Everything gonna be A-okay, it’ll be over before you know it!”

Thank you for taking the time read this.
