My granddaughter was born with Congenital Heart Defects (CHD) which include single atruim ,single ventricle, dextracardia, heterotaxy syndome, (TAPV) . She is asplenia , has a midline liver and a partially malorotated colon. She is a very funny loving and caring 5 yr old who loves to sing dance and play with her dolls and is homeschooled due to her condition. Her first surgery was when she was 10 days old . For her type of defect sydnee is required to have 3 surgeries but so far she has needed 5. Her second one was when she was 10 months old called the bidirectional Glen which then she suffered a double lung collapse and was in the hospital for a month. Aug 2012 shehad her 4th due to too much venous pressure not allowing he fontanel to close. Last august she had her 5th emergency surgery to repair her mitral valve due to holes . this May she need her last of the 3 stages which is the Fontan,andbeing Sydnees anatomy is so complex this surgery is a very high risk . Her hospital stay will be a month or more . This surgery will be in BostonChildrens Medical Hospital. Sydnees parents are going to need help with travel expenses , food , Hotel expenses and medical and personal bills due to having one income and one car and Dad having to take time off from work for the surgery and recovery.
