Ben's Cancer Treatment

Hi everyone, my name is Ashley.  Ben is my husband and we have been married for 9 years and 10 months. We have two amazing children, ages 1 and 4. 

On 3/23/16 at 36 years of age, Ben was diagnosed with a brain/spehnoid sinus tumor.  A week later on 3/30/16, he went into surgery where they were able to removen 70% of the tumor and take a biopsy.  The surgeon had to leave 30% behind because of the nerves and arteries that the tumor surrounded.  Surgery lasted for about 2 hours at which point our neurosurgeon took me aside to tell me that instead of the tumor being lymphoma like we had hoped, it is in fact squamous cell carcinoma.  He said that this type of cancer is extremely rare, very agressive, and not curable.  However, we know we serve a God who heals.  He is powerful, gracious, merciful, and above all, loves us uncondtionally. First and foresmost, we ask for your prayers as we get through this trial as a family. 

Because of this daignosis Ben is now unable to work.  As a stay at home mom, prior to this catastrophe, I need to continue to be with my husband and our kids.  As a result, our finances are really in a difficult place.

All of Ben's care is going to be in Phoenix, Arizona.  The tentative treatment plan is radiation therapy 5 days per week and chemotherapy less fequently, for 3 months.  Unfortunately, our current house is too far from Phoenix to travel daily for treatment.  Radiation and chemo will start in 1 to 2 weeks so we will need to rent an apartment in Phoenix by then.  This cost, added to our deductible and other necessary life expenses, adds up very quickly which is why we are asking for help.

Seeing my husband go through the amount of pain he's experienced for the last 5 months has been extremely difficult and trying on our family. Having this diagnosis is nothing short of devastating. Our kids need their Dad and I need my husband. We are going to fight this horrific tumor with everything we have and with God's strength.
