500km run across Indonesia for Lombok earthquake
I have visited Lombok a number of times since 1997 and have grown to love this magical island and its people. In July and August 2018 Lombok was hit by a number of earthquakes which left the Northern part of the island devastated. The people who live there were already poor, now many have nothing.
The LFC Endri Foundation is responsible for many worthwhile projects in the region to assist the rebuilding and to aid the people's suffering, as well the Lombok Earthquake Emergency Center Foundation is building some really important infrastructure. Both these groups deserve our support.
I am running 500km across Sumbawa and Northern Lombok starting in Sepa on Dec 21 2019 and finishing in Bangsal on Dec 29. I have never fundraised through my running before, and was not ever intending to do so, however given the special connection my run will have through the earthquake effected areas of Lombok, I thought it was only natural that I try and raise some cash for these very worthwhile charities. I would actually prefer if I could keep the run under the radar, however I thought the benefits of fundraising outweighed my desire for no spotlight.
I am not out to try and raise many thousands of dollars and set unreal fundraising expectations, I figure every little bit helps, and if we can help a little, I am sure it will be appreciated. Note that every dollar raised will go to the charities.
I have assisted countless runners over the years through donating to their fundraising causes, to those people, now is payback time. You know who you are.
My 60th birthday is on November 7, if for some silly reason you were thinking of giving me something, please give to this instead, it will mean far more to me.
Let's see if we can make this little run make a little difference.
