Help Bring Miss Madison Home
Our crowdfunding campaign is to bring the 1971 Gold Cup winning Miss Madison hydroplane back to Madison, IN. We are a group of volunteers that have a passion for vintage hydroplanes and the history of the sport of hydroplane racing. The 1971 Miss Madison has been in Washington State for years. It has sat outside in the elements for years and needs repairs. This is the boat the movie “Madison” was based on. We want it back where it belongs!
With the assistance of Historic Hoosier Hills RC&D (a 501c3 non-profit), the funds raised will allow us to purchase, transport, store and restore the boat to its glory days. Our goal is to run this hydroplane again on a regular basis. Once restored, it will also be the centerpiece of our future hydroplane museum in Madison, IN.
We have until the end of February to raise the funds for the boat.
We also have an opportunity to apply for a grant from the state. We currently meet all the qualifications of the grant except for having matching funds in hand. In order to apply for this grant, we must have funds promised to us in the amount that we apply for. We can apply for up to $250,000. The deadline to apply for this grant in December 3rd.
As an all-volunteer non-profit group, we run on a very small budget. The opportunity to obtain the 71 Miss Madison and the possibility to obtain a building for our museum have happened simultaneously. Both are great opportunities that we just can’t pass up. We don’t have the resources internally to raise the funds needed. With public and private sector help and the possibility of gaining approval for the matching grant, we could double any donations received.
We appreciate your support for this campaign!
