Dear Friends, Family, Fans, and Fellow Rock & Rollers,
I was shocked to hear Sarah Wheeler had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. For the last few years I have watched my wonderful friend deal with so many of life’s hard challenges. With such grace and strength, she rarely asks for help... so I'm asking on her behalf because she is one hell of a lady and needs our support!
In a short time she will be having surgery to remove one breast, undergo radiation and possibly chemo before a final surgery to reconstruct one or both breasts. This whole process will take up to a year.
Most of you know that Sarah is an incredibly talented Vancouver musician. In my opinion and many other's, one of this city's best! What you may not know is that she has been financially and emotionally supporting her partner Karen Skaret who has been going through her own health challenges.
Karen has been struggling with a rare and extreme case of TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder) for close to 7 years. Continuous pain has made it impossible for Karen to work during this extremely difficult time. Since Karen's condition is considered dental, it is not covered by the Government. Karen will soon undergo surgery that will take 6 months or more to recover from.
Since Sarah and Karen's surgeries are only a month apart from each other, they will need our assistance at this time. Both Karen and Sarah would like to thank all of those who have already helped Karen along the way. Unfortunately with Sarah's diagnosis; they are now in need of further financial support.
To make it through the next year with both being unable to work, they will need $30,000 to cover medical expenses and the cost of daily living.
Sarah and Karen would like to thank all of their friends and family who have been there for them along the way and all of those who choose to help at this time. Your kindness is life changing and goes straight to the heart. Please think positive thoughts and get ready to have a serious party at the end of all of this!!!
