Cite Soleil School Support Fund

Cite Soleil Community School has lost another dedicated young man. Our beloved Jonas has worked diligently to bring about great change in this little school. CSCS is small, with a student population of 200 or so, but is full of spirit, faith, Love, and a true desire for education. The students and community have had more losses than I can possibly list. Supporters have struggled to rebuild the school since the earthquake yet the walls are still plywood and tarps. All, blown away every hurricane season. The children are fed only three times a week. For most, that is the only real meal they will receive. Parents do whatever is necessary to provide for their children. Still, Cite Soleil perseveres and, so too, does the school. Their strength far outweighs my own. There are no “extra” funds to provide money for a funeral or help with Jonas’ family. Word of Jonas’ death brought me to my knees. My heart aches for the sadness and uncertainty that the students, parents, teachers, and his family must now endure. Please won’t you help our loved ones during this time? I pray that the death of one of our strongest leaders will be a catalyst for awareness, grace, and support of this school and community. I believe that the future of Haiti is being educated within the walls of CSCS. Jonas believed that too. Any funds will be, immediately, forwarded to assist the family with funeral expenses with provisions for the family members he was supporting. Remaining funds will be used to continue the educational needs of the school in his honor.
