Angie’s cancer fund

Hello, my name is Angelica, or Angie, I’m 21 and I’m trying to raise money to beat my rare cancer. I was first diagnosed back in July 5th 2018 but I’ve been having symptoms since November 2017. I specifically have osteosarcoma, which is a rare type of bone cancer. The tumor that I have is on my pelvis and sadly has spread over to the sacrum bone. At first it had affected my right leg, I went through so much pain that not even morphine pain medication helped me. Finally after the hospital found a pain medication that helped me, I felt relieved, but I knew I couldn’t live on pain medications and I was hoping they would be able to get this tumor out as soon as possible so I can finally be pain free. However, the doctor told me that this won’t be an easy fix and that it’ll take time. So they cut the nerve on my right leg so I wouldn’t feel any pain at all, my entire right leg was numb and I was already feeling a little better. When I got admitted to MD Anderson they gave me 8 rounds of chemotherapy and originally it had shrunk the tumor so much, it went from 11 cm to 4 cm. We were all happy and hopeful, I thought I was so close to surgery that I would have this tumor out in no time. By December 2018 I was walking really well with a walker, I had gained back my strength and some weight, and I was able to do most things on my own, I was even starting to get some movement back of my right foot. Unfortunately once the new year came, my tumor had started to grow again and once again I was in a lot of pain, so I went back to the hospital where they gave me four more rounds of chemo. Sadly my tumor has become so aggressive and big that it has grown to become immune to chemotherapy. Nothing was helping and we kept asking my oncologist for other possible treatments. By the time March 2019 came everyone on my sarcoma team had concluded that there was nothing else they can do for me. Their plan was to give me regular radiation first then to put me in hospice care. I started to cry because I’ve worked so hard and my parents have done so much to help shrink my tumor, going through all of that chemo only for it to grow back even worse. Well I went through with the regular radiation and to my surprise it shrunk my tumor just well enough to make the pain go away. It didn’t shrink it a great amount but I was able to sit down on my wheelchair and lay on my back again. Sadly, it only lasted a few weeks, now my pain is back again and my tumor keeps growing again. My oncologist has given up on me already and said they couldn’t cure my cancer, but my parents and I are not giving up, there is always hope. My parents have spent everything for my treatments, and right now we’re financially struggling. My dad had spent his entire  retirement savings on me, even had to borrow some money from my bank account, and we’re running out. None of us can work, and we don’t know how we’re going to pay the bills that we owe in McAllen, the hospital bills, food, taxes and our expensive rent for our apartment in Houston. We also need money for travel because my dad is willing to take me to some of the best clinics and find ourselves a great doctor that can help us and won’t give up on me, even if it means traveling out of state or out of the country. I really want to beat this, I don’t want to give up, especially at such a young age. I don’t care what those doctors said, there is always hope there are lots of treatments out there, but we need the money first. My parents are willing to do anything to cure my cancer, I will not let this awful thing beat me. Any little donation helps, and prayers are always welcomed.
