Thomas’ Brain Tumor Battle

Donation protected
Thomas is a nurse who is passionate about taking care of other people and building them back up after life threatening illnesses. So, it is a strange turn of events that he will now be relying on medical workers to do the same for him. After a camping trip with friends, Thomas experienced a severe headache and decided to take a nap. About 30 minutes later, he was found shaking uncontrollably in his sleep. After a trip to the ER, a neurologist, and many scans, it turns out that Thomas has been living with a glioma tumor in the left temporal lobe of his brain that suddenly caused a grand mal seizure.

The doctors were not alarmed by the size of the tumor and told Thomas that he should wait 6 months before having an MRI. During this time, he became avid about eating nutritious meals and taking the utmost care of his body in an attempt to keep the tumor from growing. Much to his and close friends and family’s dismay, the tumor doubled in size. After consulting with his doctors again, it was determined that having brain surgery to remove the tumor was his only option.

Thomas is unable to work due to the crippling headaches, partial seizure activity, and inability to give 100% to his patients while trying to care for himself. The medical bills for scans and doctors appointments have been piling up and he is headed to the other side of the country to have surgery in a foreign city. Not only is the surgery incredibly expensive, but the airfare and housing expenses will be insurmountable by the time this process is hopefully over.

He has been asked by friends and family on how they can help. After thousands of dollars of expenses already incurred and the biggest expenses ahead, the biggest help right now would be to help him pay for the hospital bills until he can go back to working in his local hospital. The extent of the expenses for the, hopefully first and last, round of surgery will be $15,000. Any help you can provide, whether financially or emotionally, is huge for him during this long and stressful process. Thank you for your time and support!
