Lighthouse Literacy 2017-2018

Donation protected
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.  Your support of Lighthouse Literacy’s mission and work made an incredible difference in the lives of some bright, talented, and very grateful students and their families this year.  Your donations made it possible for these students to receive the specialized instruction they require to become independent and confident learners.

I will be posting  messages of thanks from some of the middle school students who have benefited from your generosity.  I wish I could also post and send you their newly found confidence and independence.  It has been a privilege and a joy to be a part of their growth.  I simply cannot thank you enough.

Thanks to you, during the 2016-2017 school year:

Sixteen middle-school students received scholarships that allowed them to participate in the Lighthouse Literacy program, providing them with the instruction and support needed to develop the reading and writing skills required for high school work.

Twenty-five at-risk students in Grades 1-3 received small group instruction in the Wilson Reading program, providing them with the foundational skills necessary for independent and fluent reading.

All students had access to Learning Ally, an audible book program that allows students to listen to books at or above their grade level.  (Our institutional membership was donated by Wilson Language Training).

A donor who wishes to remain anonymous provided the funds for a new projector for our Smart Board, providing us with internet access.

Students experienced measurable growth in reading and writing skills and immeasurable gains in confidence and independence.

We hope to continue this success in the 2017-2018 school year.  To do so, we need to raise $15,000 to provide  scholarships for the students whose families cannot afford the added tuition for the program.  The money raised will again be used solely for these scholarships.  No donation is too small, and every gift will make a huge difference in the life of a deserving student.

With gratitude,

Robin Carlo
