Hospital Bills

This holiday season has been very difficult for me and my family.  I have been in and out of the hospital with an unexpected gallbladder surgery, procedures and complications since Thanksgiving.  I have been unable to work and unsure when I will be able to return to work full time.  My condition is still tentative.  Being the main bread winner in our home has brought much anxiety, concern and worry to Joe and I.  If you are able to help, we are forever grateful.

Hi friends and family,
Debbie's daughters here...
We wanted to share a bit more background to this situation so that you can all be updated. We have been so blessed by so many people (close and far) asking how they can help.
People have been praying, dropping meals by, sending flowers, and encouraging us daily. We are so grateful. You truly know who your community of friends and family are when you go thru a crisis!

On Thanksgiving Day, Tammy (daughter 2) rushed mom to the ER because she had horrible pain in her abdomen. CT scans showed she had a severly diseased gallbladder. She was taken in for an ERCP. This procedure was intended to clear our gallstones via the throat. The following day she had gall bladder surgery, which is typically not a difficult operation. However, mom's diseased gall bladder surprised the surgeon... it was double to size of a normal one and had MILLIONS of stones. Her gallbladder was so inflamed, and stones spilled out into her abdominal cavity, possibly from a tear. The surgeon did his best and was confident she would recover normally.
This was not the case....
First week of December, Alli (daughter 1) her husband, V and their 2 toddlers flew in from Zimbabwe to visit for the holidays after 2 years of being away. What was meant to be a joyous family time together has turned out to be quite different. Mom endured 3 weeks of excrutiating pain in her abdomen, high fevers and shivering. She was told to simply "drink water and rest". On December 20, Tammy and Alli rushed mom to the ER again. After a CT scan, it showed that mom actually had a severe infection in her abdomen. She actually had abscesses. That night she was admitted and took a dive for the worse.
The scene was scary- mom shivering violently for over 40 minutes, her fever spiking to 102.6 and nurses running in and out of her room. She was nauseous and put on 3 intravenous antibiotics because of Sepsis.
The next day she went in for a operation that was intended to put a drain into her abscesses (pockets of infected fluid). After 24 hours, Doctors were "concerned" with the amount of drainage and the color. After a CT and procedure with interventional radiology and Specialists meeting to discuss her case, it was discovered that the drain was NOT placed in her abscess, but in her colon... It was devastating news. They decided to leave the drain but cap it off since mom had already been through so much.
Christmas day- her liver levels elevated (which is not good) and she was feeling crummy. It was suspected she had gall stones still left in bile duct. Christmas day, Alli and Anna (daughter 3) waited all morning in a waiting room for the results of the operation. The surgeon came out to say it was "unsuccessful". Her intestines were too inflamed for them to go in and clear out the suspected gall stones. She was left to rest the remainder of the day and talk about another "aggressive surgery" was being considered.
Then we rallied more prayer warriors... we alerted more groups of intercessors and immediately we began to see things change for the better!
Mom spent 2 more days in the hospital resting and receiving her pain meds and antibiotics.
2 days after Christmas, mom was released. Doctors are still not certain what exactly is wrong with mom, except suspected gall stones in the bile duct and Sepsis. That night we were able to open Christmas presents with the family and eat a Christmas dinner (although mom was only able to enjoy a little bit).

Today she is feeling much better! She is still moving slow and in some pain but she is hopeful!!

So... in 3 weeks they will remove the drain that was incorrectly placed in her colon and she continues to go in for Labs and CT scans for follow ups.

**As her daughters, please hear our hearts.. .We love our mom and think the world of her. Anyone who has met her can agree that she is the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful person ever. As she recovers, it is not healthy for her to stress about finances. There is no one more deserving of your blessing.

Love and hugs
Alli, Tammy and Anna
