Dylan Seiss - Fighting Brain Cancer

Donazione protetta

Dylan Seiss is a 6 year old first grader at Cascade Elementary School who has been diagnosed with MALIGNANT BRAIN STEM GLIOMA W/ METASTATIC DISEASE. He and his family attend St. Mark's Church in Sabillasville, Maryland. He is an avid New York Yankees fan like his father and loves Baltimore Raven's football. The tumor in Dylan's brain in inoperable. He was diagnosed in January of 2013 and has been through one type of treatment after another since. Please take the time to read about Dylan here and at the Facebook site "Prayer's for Dylan". Help keep this family strong as they go through this horrific experience.

Dylan's story:

In January of 2013 he had been having symptoms of vomiting and morning headaches. Dylan was immediately referred to a pediatric neurologist at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. The neurologist ordered a CT scan of Dylan's brain. The initial CT scan showed a spot on Dylan's brain stem and he was thus referred to a pediatric neurosurgeon at the same hospital center. The surgeon admitted Dylan to the hospital the same day he saw him as his ventricles were enlarged and Dylan needed a VP shunt put in to relieve the pressure on his brain which was causing his headaches and vomiting. The doctor also discussed the brain stem tumor. The following month Dylan had a biopsy done to see what kind of cancer he had. The doctors could not put a name on the type of cancer Dylan had because they could not identify the cell of origin. Dylan went back to the hospital in March for intense chemotherapy treatment. The chemotherapy did not do any good for Dylan because he is not chemo sensitive. The following month Dylan was set up to have 30 radiation treatments. They did an MRI one month after radiation and it showed that the tumor had shrunk some but had no effect on the cancer in his spine. Dylan was put on another round of chemotherapy where he had to get an IV every other week for about 2 months. The most recent MRI was done in October 2013 showing that the cancer HAS PROGRESSED. He now has tumors on his STOMACH and in his SPINE. Dylan has been taken to Children's hospital in D.C. They have identified two clinical trials that Dylan is a candidate for. The first being a pill form trial of Sorafenib and Irinoyecan and the second choice is an IV form trial of p28. The family is currently trying to decide which trial has the greatest chance of helping him.

This family is second to none. Friend's from all over have helped in so many ways to support and comfort this family in their time of need. Dylan is about the sweetest little boy you are ever going to meet. Even after all he has gone through he still has an amazing attitude and his infectious smile keeps everyone else hopeful.

We are raising money to support Dylan and his family as the go through these next few weeks and months. The family will be traveling back and forth to doctors and hospitals over the next few months. Dylan's Dad will be in and out of work so he can be with and take care of Dylan as he fights his way through this. The bills keep mounting and it just keeps getting tougher and tougher to keep focused on what the family really needs to be focused on and that is helping their youngest son FIGHT for his LIFE. Please help this family in their time of need by giving what you can to make their lives just a little easier as they look to beat this demon they are fighting against.

Thank you and God Bless.
