Gritty’s Gift To See Again

My name is “Gritty” and I need your help. I may have had the pleasure of meeting you if you have visited the Humane Society of Marion County. If you have adopted a fur baby from us, your pet has met me fur sure. I am a Medical Service Dog. My mommy and me work at the shelter and we have helped thousands of pets throughout the years in Marion County. We work long hours every day helping the sick, injured, homeless, abused and those that have lost their human families. While my mommy works hard saving their lives, giving them love, and tending to their medical and emotional needs, I’m by her side reassuring them spiritually in a way only an animal can do. I comfort them while they are recovering from surgery, medical procedures, and during the scary time of intake. My job has become extremely difficult now. I’ve developed advanced stage cataracts bilaterally and can no longer see. I can only see shadows at this point and the doctors told me I will go completely blind if I do not have this surgery to correct this disease. My mommy took me to Gainesville, FL - AVS (Affiliated Veterinary Service) that specialize in this disease and surgery. Unfortunately, they told my mommy surgery is my only option. They can’t do the surgery at the HSMC, I have to go to a specialist. It costs a lot of money and I desperately need your help. Without my sight, I can’t give the help needed to all my fellow fur animals. My mommy has always been there for me and all my fur friends, now I want to help her raise the funds needed.
