help Bernadette's medical bills

$2,020 of $5,000 goal

As most of you may or may not know, my mom fell back in April and broke both of her shoulders which required immediate surgery. Because she has osteoporosis the breaks were more significant and has made the healing process longer than usual. After months of physical therapy she reached a point where she was no longer making progress and had surgery for a second time in September to remove one of the rods, two screws and to repair some damage to her rotator cuff. She’s still in need of a lot of medical assistance, physical therapy, medications, and Dr.’s visits. She is not able to go back to work and now that short term disability has run out she is now on long term disability and the medical bills are mounting. She shouldn’t have to risk losing the roof over her head while she’s trying to recover. Every little bit helps and I am grateful for any amount that anyone can give. Thank you in advance.

Mom saw the surgeon today and had the part of her brace that restricted her movement removed today. She’s in a lot of pain but was instructed to try and do simple things around the house like dishes, etc. Soon she’ll start physical therapy again to continue her road to recovery but it’s still a long road ahead. Please donate if you can. Every little bit helps. Thanks!

UPDATE: I've been meaning to post an update but started a new job and things have been a little hectic. Mom's total shoulder replacement surgery was on February 5th and went well. She's been in an arm brace that attaches at her waist to restrict any movement in her shoulder and elbow. While she's had progress with her left arm/shoulder, it's difficult to try and function with no use of her right arm and still limited use of her left arm. She is going to see the surgeon tomorrow to have her sutures out and x-rays done to see how it is healing since the surgery. She is unsure if the brace will come off tomorrow or if she will still need to wear it for a while longer while she heals. Regardless, she's starting from square one, once again, on the road to recovery on her right arm and has medications that need to be filled, Dr's/Surgeons office visits and lots of physical therapy ahead of her. She is still determined to get back to work but it is looking more and more unlikely in the near future if at all. Any donations to help with the burden of her medical bills through this harrowing (and painful) time is very much appreciated. Every little bit helps. Thank you to all who have donated and shared. ❤️

Total shoulder replacement surgery (her 3rd surgery) is getting closer (February 5th). Pre-op procedures have included seeing a specialist, x-rays, MRI, seeing a cardiologist, lab work and custom fitting for a brace for after the surgery just to name a few. The cost of all these things is still mounting and adding stress in addition to the stress of having the surgery itself. The fear, worry and stress prior to having the surgery are enough, she shouldn't have to worry about the financial burden as well. Please help if you can to give her a bit of relief. No amount is too small. Thank you to all who have donated!

UPDATE: First I would just like to thank everyone for the recent outpouring that has given this campaign a boost. It is greatly appreciated by me and my mom. As she has said before, she is deeply humbled by everyones kindness and generosity.

After a set back in physical therapy she had to go and see a shoulder specialist. Unfortunately the news was not good. She has avascular necrosis in her shoulder and needs total shoulder replacement. This is a huge blow as she has been working so hard in physical therapy to try and get back to work in January and now that is not even an option anymore. I am not well versed in medical terminology but basically, as it was described to me, there is no blood going to the bones in her shoulder so it is deteriorating and causing her great pain and limited use of her right arm. So while the set back in physical therapy was bad, it's a good thing it did happen because they might not have discovered the avascular necrosis otherwise and she could have lost total use of her right arm. Surgery is scheduled for February 5th and she has to have blood work, x-rays and other tests before hand, including being fit for a shoulder brace for after the surgery. Your donations are helping with the burden of the costs in co-pays among other things through all of this. So once again i'd like to say thank you to everyone who has donated, shared and retweeted. This is a lot for her to process and not having to worry about the financial burden of it all makes it a little bit easier. ❤️
