help Bernadette's medical bills
As most of you may or may not know, my mom fell back in April and broke both of her shoulders which required immediate surgery. Because she has osteoporosis the breaks were more significant and has made the healing process longer than usual. After months of physical therapy she reached a point where she was no longer making progress and had surgery for a second time in September to remove one of the rods, two screws and to repair some damage to her rotator cuff. She’s still in need of a lot of medical assistance, physical therapy, medications, and Dr.’s visits. She is not able to go back to work and now that short term disability has run out she is now on long term disability and the medical bills are mounting. She shouldn’t have to risk losing the roof over her head while she’s trying to recover. Every little bit helps and I am grateful for any amount that anyone can give. Thank you in advance.+ Read More
BAD NEWS. My mom's employer fired her because she has been out for 12 months since her fall. They sent her a letter stating as of 4/9 her employment will be terminated. She will lose her medical benefits on 4/30. This is a tremendous blow considering she is starting rehab after her total shoulder replacement surgery next week. She is still in a lot of pain and has very little function of her right arm (the shoulder that was just replaced). She could not even afford her prescriptions, office visits, etc when she had medical benefits and will now lose all of it including her long term disability income. Please help if you can or share if you can't.
i've recently increased the goal because i originally started this campaign with the hopes that she would be able to go back to work in January or February. But the fact that she had to have total shoulder replacement in February and to this day is still not where she should be with her rehab and is still in so much pain has made that goal unachievable. please help if you can. no donation is too small and all donations are appreciated. thank you in advance. ❤️
Mom saw the surgeon today and had the part of her brace that restricted her movement removed today. She’s in a lot of pain but was instructed to try and do simple things around the house like dishes, etc. Soon she’ll start physical therapy again to continue her road to recovery but it’s still a long road ahead. Please donate if you can. Every little bit helps. Thanks!
UPDATE: I've been meaning to post an update but started a new job and things have been a little hectic. Mom's total shoulder replacement surgery was on February 5th and went well. She's been in an arm brace that attaches at her waist to restrict any movement in her shoulder and elbow. While she's had progress with her left arm/shoulder, it's difficult to try and function with no use of her right arm and still limited use of her left arm. She is going to see the surgeon tomorrow to have her sutures out and x-rays done to see how it is healing since the surgery. She is unsure if the brace will come off tomorrow or if she will still need to wear it for a while longer while she heals. Regardless, she's starting from square one, once again, on the road to recovery on her right arm and has medications that need to be filled, Dr's/Surgeons office visits and lots of physical therapy ahead of her. She is still determined to get back to work but it is looking more and more unlikely in the near future if at all. Any donations to help with the burden of her medical bills through this harrowing (and painful) time is very much appreciated. Every little bit helps. Thank you to all who have donated and shared. ❤️
